Our History
The Weyburn Antique Auto Club was formed in 1965/66 by Terry Hanson from Filmore and Paul Greening from Weyburn. Terry and Paul compiled a list of like minded Car Guys possibly interesting in starting a Car Club. The interest was sufficient and a decision to move ahead with it was made.The Original Membership was as follows;Terry Hanson, Paul Greening, Garry Hanson, Jerry Morrisette, Joe Olah, John Matianka, Mel Knoblauch, Darryl Cox, Dave Knibbs, Wayne Knibbs, Howard Southerland, Dave Kerr and Noel Hebert.
The Club operated very informally for the first couple years and the Membership continued to grow, newMembers included;Ron Metheral, Don Hanson, Doug Garrenson, Marcel Fradette, Herb and Merle Ganz and Roland McKinney,Harvey Oudot, Ed and Myrna Jocobs, Harold and Dianne Vanoene, Calder Hawkesford, Bob Klemmer, George LaRose, John Monastersky, Wayne Squires, Brucw Scamrell, Art Tomlinson, Bruno Tuchscher andBob Weatherald.The Club hosted many meetings discussing and planning events to showcase members cars, raise money and the chosing of the club name which was to become Weyburn Antique Auto Club.In the early years the Club investigated finding a Club House and Restoration Garage. A few places were lookedinto including a CPR Staion as well as the Power House at the Souris Valley grounds but neither seemed to meetthe Clubs needs and the idea was set aside.The Club played a significant role in helping form Saskatchewan Assosiation of Antique Auto Clubs which cordinated events in the Province and neighbouring areas and documented a roster of members and their cars.The club was very active hosting very large and successful car shows held in the Weyburn Curling Rink, aswell as planned and completed the restoration of a International Fire Truck that was used in Parades. In 1971the club participated in the Circle Tour of Saskatchewan which cover over 900 Miles!
A lot has changed since ’65 and our Club has evolved with the time. This is why in 2020 we decided to change our name to the Sooline Cruisers Car Club.
